Jamal Dakheel Rasho stands as a transformative leader, visionary activist, and a beacon of hope for marginalized communities. Since March 2021, he has spearheaded Doctors of Peace (DOP) as its Executive Director, guiding the organization to implement 12 impactful projects that address critical humanitarian and social challenges
Jamal has dedicated his life to empowering the voiceless and defending survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). His unwavering commitment extends to advancing civic movements, including co-founding the Sinjar Civic Movement and actively supporting the historic Iraq October 2019 Revolution.
Jamal’s influence reaches global audiences through his role as Co-Founder of the Yazidis News Social Media Channel (English department) and as a founding member of the Yazidi NGOs Network, amplifying the voices of Yazidis and other vulnerable groups on an international stage.
Humanitarian Leadership
Currently serving as the Sinjar Focal Point for Yazda, Jamal has managed life-saving projects such as a mobile medical unit delivering healthcare and psychosocial support to 14 underserved villages in Sinuni. His collaboration with UNITAD and the Iraqi government in the exhumation of mass graves in Sinjar highlights his dedication to seeking justice and healing for survivors of genocide.
Environmental Stewardship
As the founder of the acclaimed ‘Let’s Make Sinjar Green Again’ initiative, Jamal has championed environmental restoration in Sinjar through sustainable practices, inspiring a movement towards ecological harmony in a war-torn region.
With a proven track record of building strong partnerships with diplomatic missions, international organizations, and government entities, Jamal has been a driving force behind efforts to advance human rights, humanitarian work, and environmental sustainability. His work with globally renowned organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and Yazda Global, reflects his unmatched expertise and influence.
In recognition of his tireless efforts, Jamal was honored with the Humanitarian of the Year Award (Sinjar-Iraq) in 2023, solidifying his reputation as a leading advocate for social justice.
